TARA AKSHAR+

TARA Akshar+ is an ICT based foundational literacy program. It starts with Akshar Gyan (Hindi) followed by TARA Ganit (Arithmetic). The learners are taught to recognize the sound of letters, syllables, numbers and form words and sentences using ICT based comprehensive software developed through stages of intensive grassroot level research and study of best practices globally.
Safe Learning Spaces are identified in women’s own community with trained instructors from the same socio-cultural milieu. Strategic mobilization using inclusive model with a community development approach is done to aid women in reaching the learning space.

GYAN CHAUPALI

To link newly gained literacy skills with utility, women are facilitated to revisit her everyday issues such as health, hygiene, nutrition and finances as literate beings. They are engaged in reading hoardings, pamphlets about schemes, provisions, doses and precautions on medicines and prescriptions, writing and maintaining records related to savings made, vaccinations done for their children, writing applications and filling forms. This initiates reflection and action in women to transform her own world she has known in a particular way until now.

Neo-literates are given exposure on livelihood preparedness, on entrepreneurship, on available options to earn, on schemes and programs, on development issues, on ways to get loans from banks and trainings through RSETIs and local stakeholders like district officials to ensure sustainable impact in their lives.
