quoteThe State of our Women, Reflects the State of our Country

India, like most low-income nations, still has very high numbers of illiterate people, particularly women, and more particularly women in rural communities. Given the demographics of the country, it will be some forty years before those who are illiterate today will have naturally grown beyond retirement age and have been replaced by their literate progeny. Despite the severity of the illiteracy problem and the tall order in front of us, DA has through its flagship program tried to make a dent in the illiteracy problem of India by imparting literacy to over 238,000 adult women in the rural and peri-urban regions of India.
